2024.10.10 Abrar passed all QE! Congratulations!
Open PhD Student Positions at Biosensors Lab, Baylor University Join Biosensors lab! Are you passionate about Biomedical engineering and eager to contribute to the future of Biomedical technologies? The Biosensors Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering and Computer Science, Baylor University, is looking for talented and self-motivated graduate students. We focus on a broad range of topics including AI-enhanced Wearable Biosensor System for Health Monitoring, and Appropriate Technologies, with a strong emphasis on integrated biosensing systems with AI/ML technologies. Our mission is to create innovative solutions to improve quality of life of users. â– Key research area AI enhanced Wearable Biosensing Systems This research focuses on the design and fabrication of a wide spectrum of wearable biosensors for continuous health monitoring. These sensors assess vital health parameters such as blood pressure and temperature and monitor ion levels, pH, glucose, hormones, and biomarkers in biofluids. We integrate these biosensors into systems that facilitate wireless data transfer and point-of-care diagnosis, enabling early diagnosis of diseases. Furthermore, we use AI technologies to enhance sensor design, optimize material selections, and develop machine learning-based prediction models that improve the accuracy and reliability of these biosensing devices. â– What we are looking for We seek highly motivated candidates with a strong background in fields, such as biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or related areas. Ideal candidates will have: -Deep interest in biosensing technologies. -Strong experimental skills and hands-on experience. -Excellent problem-solving abilities. -Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other researchers. -Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch). â– What we offer Cutting-edge Facilities: Access to state-of-the-art equipment and software. Check out Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC). (https://bric.research.baylor.edu/) Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside experts in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and AI/ML. Professional Development: Opportunities for publishing in journals and presenting at international conferences. Funding: Competitive stipends and funding for research projects and travel. â– Application requirements Please send an email to Dr. Taeil Kim (Taeil_Kim[at]baylor.edu) with a subject, "Prospective PhD Student: Your Name". You may include CV, cover letter, Transcripts, and English language proficiency score. For more detailed information about the Baylor University / School of Engineering and Computer Science admission requirements and deadlines, please check this link (https://www.ecs.baylor.edu/students-academics/degree-programs/graduate-degrees/doctor-philosophy-mechanical-engineering). â– Why join us? Joining our lab means becoming part of a vibrant community of researchers dedicated to pushing the boundaries of biomedical engineering technologies. You will work on pioneering impactful projects and contribute to the society. Biosensors lab provides a supportive environment where innovation thrives, and you can contribute and make groundbreaking advancements.
