Principal Investigator
Taeil Kim is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Baylor University. Taeil obtained bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), master’s degree in Management Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and Ph.D. in Mechatronic Systems Engineering at Simon Fraser University. He served as a postdoctoral researcher at University of California, Irvine and Seoul National University. Taeil enjoys jogging with his wife and puppy as well as biking with his two sons.

Phd Student
Mohammad Abrar Uddin completed his Bachelor of Science degree from the department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). His research interests lie in the fields of Biomaterials, Biosensor Systems for Health Monitoring, and Electronic Skins. He likes to watch movies, play soccer, and do 3D animations.

Phd Student
Amanat Hossain Emon completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) in Bangladesh. His research interests focus on Biosensor Systems, Fluid Mechanics in Microfluidics, and Smart Health Monitoring Devices. Outside the lab, he enjoys watching movies and spending time with his family.

Undergraduate Research Assistant
Barrett Burgess is a student at Baylor University pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering and plans to pursue a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering. His research interests are Biosensors and 3D Printed Organs, specifically Artificial Heart Valves. His hobbies include watching basketball with friends and serving in his community.

Undergraduate Research Assistant
Chukwudum (James) Maduako is an engineering student with a biomedical engineering concentration at Baylor University. He plans to pursue a PhD in biomedical engineering after graduation. His research interests include biosensors, tissue engineering and nanomaterials. His hobbies include singing, playing video games and writing.

Jaemin (Samuel) Choi is a Junior Computer Science student at Baylor University. He has previously interned as a Software Engineer at Walt Disney, and is looking forward to contributing to as an Undergraduate Research Assistant for the Biosensors Lab. In his free time, he enjoys coding, climbing, and cycling.

Undergraduate Research Assistant
Miguel Ramos Cabrera is a student at Baylor University pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Biomechanics and minors in French and Mathematics. He plans to pursue a PhD in Biomedical Engineering to obtain a prosthetist license and eventually open his own clinic to create affordable prosthetics for everyone. His research interests include biosensors and medical device development, particularly in advancing cortisol sensors and prosthetic technologies. His hobbies include playing basketball with friends, engaging in SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) leadership, and exploring new advancements in biomechanics.

Joy Njuguna is an engineering student with a biomedical engineering concentration at Baylor University. She plans to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Baylor after graduation. Her research interests include biomechanics, biomaterials, and medical device development. In her free time, she enjoys working out, playing soccer, and playing musical instruments.

Debora Japa is a mechanical engineering student with a biomechanical concentration at Baylor University. She plans to pursue a Master of Biomedical Engineering after graduation. She is passionate about biomedical innovation and is excited to contribute to the Biosensors Lab. Debora enjoys exploring the intersection of mechanics and medicine, especially in designing assistive and diagnostic devices that can make a real difference in people’s lives. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and painting.

Jason Owens is an Electrical and Computer Engineering student at Baylor University with a strong interest in integrating artificial intelligence into meaningful and impactful medical applications. He is passionate about using technology to make a positive difference in people's lives and is eager to contribute to innovations at the intersection of AI and healthcare. Outside of academics, Jason enjoys rock climbing, running, and playing guitar.
